Assistant/Associate Professor for Cotton Management (070199)
Position Description:
The Division of Plant Sciences, University of Missouri-Columbia invites applications for a Research Assistant Professor or Research Associate Professor position with emphasis in Cotton Management. This is a 12-month, professional track (non-tenure) position with a 100% research appointment.
Location:
The successful candidate will be located at the University of Missouri-Delta Research Center (DRC) near Portageville in Southeast Missouri. This location is in the most northern region of US cotton production. This faculty position is one of six located at the DRC, and there are opportunities to work collaboratively with faculty there and at other institutions. DRC facilities include over 1000 acres of land for field research, laboratories, greenhouses, cotton gin, auditorium, offices, library, a state of the art soil test laboratory and teleconferencing center.
Responsibilities/Duties:
The successful candidate will be expected to develop a nationally recognized, extramurally funded program in cotton production research; present research in peer-reviewed journals and at scientific conferences; deliver oral and written results to farmers and their advisers; and advise and co-advise graduate students.
Qualifications:
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Agronomy, Crop Science or related field with an emphasis on applied research by the time employment begins. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated experience in cotton production research; the ability to garner extramural funding to support their research program; good oral and written communication skills; and the capacity to work effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
Salary and Benefits:
Salary will be commensurate with training and experience. Benefits available include health, dental, life and disability insurance and a retirement plan.
