Description:
The School of Music at the University of Missouri-Columbia seeks to hire a Teaching Assistant Professor to teach undergraduate and graduate music theory courses, and to research and publish scholarly records in music theory.
Music at the University:
The University of Missouri has an enrollment of 27,000 students. The campus is located in a community of 90,000 in mid-Missouri, a center of cultural, academic, and research activity. The School of Music is composed of 34 full-time music faculty, 34 teaching assistants, and 210 music majors, and offers bachelor’s and master’s degrees in performance, conducting, composition, music history, music theory, and music education. Doctoral study is also available in music education.
Qualifications:
Doctorate in music with specialization in music theory; A successful teaching record at the college or university level. A record of scholarship that forecasts high achievement in research and publication. Knowledge of music technology as it relates to computer-assisted instruction. Good keyboard skills. Good interpersonal skills. Demonstrated commitment to diversity.
Salary and Start Date:
The position includes benefits; salary for the 2008-2009 academic year is $40,000. Anticipated start date of August 15, 2008.
