Assistant Professor of Teaching (080097)
Position:
The University of Missouri-Columbia (MU) College of Education seeks to fill a three-year, 12-month, non-tenure track position to start Fall Semester, 2008. This position is needed to teach lower division coursework emphasizing diversity issues, development of urban & Title I school clinical experiences, and involvement with urban schools.
MU, a Doctoral/Research Extensive Institution, is the flagship institution of the University of Missouri four-campus system and is located in Columbia, a community of approximately 100,000. Within close reach to St. Louis and Kansas City, Columbia is rated as one of the best small cities in the US by Money magazine, and is frequently listed as one of the pest places to live by national publications. MU's enrollment is approximately 28,000 and the College of Education is one of 18 schools/colleges at MU. The college, ranked 28th nationally, is home to 1,200 undergraduate and 2,200 graduate students, and 90 tenure/tenure-track faculty members. Supporting cultural diversity is an important goal for the college and the university.
Responsibilities:
- Teach 9 hours of core curriculum course work Fall Semester & Spring Semester
- Teach 3 hours of core curriculum course work Summer Semester
- Serve as liaison for the MU Partnership for Educational Renewal (MPER) for Teaching Fellows placed in urban settings
- Service on assigned College of Education and/or MU committees is also expected
Qualifications:
An earned doctorate in a relevant area (or anticipated by 8/15/2008).
Salary and Start Date:
Salary is $ 45,000 - $55,00. Position will begin teaching Monday, August 25, 2008.
