Position Description:
Applications and nominations are solicited for the non-tenure position of Research Assistant Professor (RAP) in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Missouri-Columbia. Candidates for the position must have an earned doctorate in electrical or computer engineering or a closely related field by the time employment begins, a record of scholarly research and publication, evidence of teaching capability, and demonstrated leadership and communication skills. The RAP position will be funded from research contracts in concert with other faculty members or from research contracts garnered by the RAP. The department will provide interim funding on a month to month basis. Consideration will be given only to those who merit appointment at the rank of Research Assistant Professor.
The Electrical & Computer Engineering Department, established in 1885, has a long tradition of excellence. The department offers ABET accredited programs in electrical engineering and computer engineering along with M.S. and Ph.D. programs. There are 27 tenured and tenure-track faculty. The undergraduate enrollment is approximately 400, and 125 graduate students are currently enrolled. Major academic and Research thrusts include Nanotechnology, Eldercare Technology, Geospatial Intelligence, Physical Electronics, Communication and Signal Processing, Power Systems and Devices, Robotics, and Computational Intelligence. The RAP position will support one or more of the above mentioned research areas.
