Research Associate (080087 and 080091)
Position Description:
The Center for Geospatial Intelligence invites applications for two Research Associates. These positions will:
- Conduct research for the College of Engineering/Center for Geospatial Intelligence.
- Develop image processing and feature extraction algorithms for high-resolution satellite imagery, and database technologies for geospatial information systems.
- Develop web-enabled geospatial information services, including: content-based image retrieval, shape-based object retrieval, geospatial information queries, and change detection.
Qualifications:
Candidates should have a BS in computer science, computer engineering, or a related discipline and 3-5 years experience in research topics related to content-based retrieval, advanced database technologies, and high-resolution satellite image processing. Demonstrated abilities with computer programming (C/C++, Java, and PHP). Experience with OGC standards, GDAL, PostGIS, and MapServer strongly preferred. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or U.S. Permanent Residents.
Starting Date and Salary:
Anticipated start date May 15, 2008. Salary will be commensurate with rank and qualifications.
