Clinical Assistant Professor and Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) Program Director (080023)

Position:
The School of Health Professions at the University of Missouri-Columbia, seeks applicants for the position of Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Program Director. This position is a full-time, non-tenure track, 12-month, clinical faculty position.

Responsibilities/Duties:
The Physical Therapist Assistant Program is offered through a consortium of post-secondary institutions who collaborate whenever necessary and possible to develop and deliver instruction, education and training forMissouri's workforce. The consortium's goals are to be a partner with hospitals, businesses and industry to enhance the economic and workforce development of its service regions by addressing the needs of both individuals and businesses so the Missourians will have affordable access to skills for lucrative employment and conversely business will have access to a steady supply of skilled employees.

This individual will be responsible for the development and coordination of an innovative, new PTA program being developed in collaboration with a consortium of Missouri community colleges. The PTA Program Director will engage in strategic planning, curriculum and clinical site development, program assessment, accreditation management, college governance, student advisement, oversee faculty development and assessment, teach in his/her area of expertise, provide fiscal management, and assume other duties as assigned by the dean.

Qualifications:
The qualified individual must at minimum be a PT or PTA with a post-professional degree, currently licensed or eligible for PT/PTA licensure in Missouri, and have a minimum of five years clinical experience that includes working in a PT/PTA relationship, supervising and assessing PT/PTA students, teaching (academic and/or clinical), and administrating (fiscal management, personal supervision/human resources, and/or program development). The ideal individual will also possess:

  • Experience in educational theory and methodology (curricular design, development, implementation and evaluation)
  • Experience in instructional design and methodology
  • Experience in student outcomes assessment
  • Experience in academic governance
  • Experience working with specialized accrediting agencies, program standards and accreditation processes
  • Service on behalf of physical therapy education, the community and/or profession
  • Current in contemporary physical therapy practice
  • Documented expertise with computer technology and electronic teaching/learning and communication activities, knowledge of distance education methods

Salary will be commensurate with training and experience.
