Assistant or Associate Professor (070313)
Position:
The Department of Textile and Apparel Mangement in the College of Human and Environmental Sciences is accepting applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor. This is a 9 month academic year, tenure track appointment.
Responsibilities:
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses and generate research in retailing/e-commerce and areas that complement other faculty members’ expertise. Familiarity with relevant computer applications.
Qualifications:
Ph.D. at time of appointment.
Salary and Start Date:
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and expertise.
Start date will be August 15, 2008.
Department Information:
The Department of Textile and Apparel Management is one of six units in the College of Human Environmental Sciences at the University of Missouri-Columbia. TAM is one of 13 programs officially approved by the American Apparel Manufacturers Association, and has a state-of-the-art Apparel Manufacturing Lab. The Department has nearly 300 majors and offers programs in apparel marketing and merchandising, apparel product development and management, e-consumer studies, home furnishings merchandising, home furnishings product development, and international studies. The Department also offers an undergraduate minor and provides service courses for a variety of other departments. Additionally, there are approximately 15 graduate students seeking master’s and Ph.D. degrees. The Ph.D. is granted by the College of Human Environmental Sciences with a concentration in Textile and Apparel Management. A positive spirit of development is evident in the Department. New directions in curriculum, expanded internships, and liaisons with business and industry create a climate for growth and opportunity for the person in this position.

The University of Missouri is a four-campus system with a total enrollment of approximately 62,000; the University of Missouri-Columbia campus has approximately 28,000 students. Columbia is conveniently located between St. Louis and Kansas City, two hours from each, and has two other colleges. The population is 88,000 in the City of Columbia and over 100,000 when adjacent areas are included.
