Position:
The College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Missouri, seeks a highly-motivated individual, enthusiastic about interacting with clinicians and pet owners, to assist with establishment of a clinical nutrition service and development of the Small Animal Nutrition Program endowed by Nestle Purina.
Responsibility/Duties:
The successful candidate will be expected to develop and sustain a clinical nutrition program that will provide consultation to clinicians, services, and clients of the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital, educate students, interns, and residents, and participate in nutrition research. Critical Care, Community Practice, Soft Tissue Surgery, Oncology, Orthopedics, Cardiology, Ophthalmology, and Reproductive Biology are among clinical focuses of the College that, along with Comparative Medicine, present unique collaborative opportunities.
University interdisciplinary programs, such as the Health Activities Center, offer opportunities for interaction with faculty and students from the Colleges of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, Arts and Sciences, Human Environmental Sciences, Medicine and the Research Reactor.
Candidates with an interest in nutritional biochemistry of minerals, nutrition’s role in obesity, diabetes, cancer, exercise physiology and cardiovascular health, or nutritional aspects of one of the College of Veterinary Medicine’s established niche programs are particularly encouraged to apply. Individuals with interests in other clinical specialty areas will also be considered.
Qualifications:
Qualified candidates shall have a DVM or equivalent degree and be Diplomates of the American College of Veterinary Nutrition (ACVN) or have advanced to ACVN Diplomate candidacy. Appointment and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
