Veterinary Medicine: Veterinary Medicine and Surgery

Position:
The Department of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery, University of Missouri, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in Medical Oncology. Candidates must possess a DVM or equivalent degree and must have completed the training required for board certification in the ACVIM Specialty of Oncology.

The University of Missouri has made a commitment to development of a strong focus in comparative oncology and the activities at the College of Veterinary Medicine, including participation in the NCI Comparative Oncology Trials Consortium (COTC) are considered vital to this effort. The University of Missouri-Columbia has other unique resources that are integral to this effort, including the Ellis Fischel Cancer Center, the University of Missouri Research Reactor (MURR), the MU School of Medicine, the Christopher S. Bond Life Sciences Center, the Sinclair School of Nursing, the Dalton Cardiovascular Research Center, Radiopharmaceutical Sciences Institute (RSI), the Research Animal Diagnostic Laboratory, and the newly established International Institute of Nano and Molecular Medicine. Additional opportunities exist for collaboration with investigators at the Harry S. Truman VA Hospital and member institutions in the Kansas City Area Life Sciences Institute (KCALSI). The Scott Cell Culture Laboratory for CComparative Oncology Research offers laboratory space within the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital, in addition to the laboratory resources available throughout campus.

The successful candidate will join an established oncology service dedicated to teaching, clinical and basic science research, and the highest quality patient care. Flexibility among existing faculty will permit the development of a mutually agreeable clinical service plan. The oncology service at the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital is currently composed of two board-certified oncologists, a radiation oncologist, one oncology clinical instructor, four oncology residents (3 medical oncology and 1 radiation oncology) and three technicians (one medical, one clinical trials, and one radiation oncology).

Responsibilities:
Responsibilities of this position will include primary patient care, clinical and didactic instruction, house officer and graduate student training, and development of an independent research program. Recruitment will be at the Assistant/Associate/Full Professor level, with rank and starting salary commensurate with experience and credentials. Individuals who are not certified in any recognized specialty board will be hired at the rank of instructor until diplomate status is achieved.

Qualifications:
Individuals with additional specialty certification, advanced degrees, and research experience are encouraged to apply.
